Waited very long before I could restart my blog!
Have been postponing for it with my self justification. Only to realize that how smart we all are in justifying postponement of work!
I am too busy. My job does not spares me any free time which I can devote in doing things which I want. I need at least 8 hour of nice sleep in order to maintain my energy levels. My life is full of stress. There are hundreds of such reasons which we offer ourselves everyday in order to NOT do what we are supposed to do or actually really wish to do. How many times how you committed to yourself or heard someone committing to oneself, “I will start going to gym from tomorrow”? May be at times there is action for a day or few, only to return to earlier mode of inaction by another self-justification.
The first question is, Why?
“Naively challenged” is what we are in such situations which makes it easy for us to justify our inaction. Just because we are smart and we find reason, most of the times, logical & rational – we continue to walk the wrong path. More knowledgeable & logical you are, the more stronger arguments you actually end-up with in convincing yourself. In fact, you even end up killing a similar motivation in others, when someone else broaches about it. Even ironical is the fact that it is so easy to find like-minded people who believe in the same school of thought. Every interaction with such people provides substantial re-enforcement towards inaction or postponement.
Second argument in support is the convenience of going with the flow and majority. Although we come across inspiring stories every now and then about people who took that important step against the inertia and succeeded, we stick to the “convincing” justification made by our “intelligent, knowledgeable and smart” brain. 🙂
The second question is, How do we move out of this destructive self-justification and move towards action?
Well. It is pretty simple! Believe it because we execute extremely difficult actions and solve critical problems through the same “intelligent” brain.
I probably can list the simple steps to come out of this trap and progress. However, it becomes effective when you actually do an introspection and discover actions one-by-one to move you forward, inch-by-inch every moment.
Most of the times in solving problems involving your higher-self, it makes sense when you follow an approach of discovery. Learning and practice then becomes more fruitful once the solution comes out more in a manner of revelation. Remember, others have already always been telling you on what is good for you. And you know how effective that advice has actually been so far!
I do believe that mentoring can be useful and yield positive results in such cases!
That gives me another topic for posting my next blog soon on “mentoring”!
Keep thinking! Be curious!
Awsome thought simple words…..
